September 29th, 1939 – September 3rd, 2023

Shirley Mae Kissiar-McCormick of Shumway, Illinois  passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital at 12:48pm on 9/3/2023 at the age of 83. She was born in Licking, Missouri on 9/29/1939.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Stella Mae Hall-Kissiar & Ferrell Elvin Kissiar and three brothers, Lee Kissiar, Eddie Kissiar and James “Woody” Kissiar.

Lovingly remembered by her children John McCormick (Tonya Owen) of Shumway, IL, Sandra Wakefield (Michael Wakefield) of Mission, TX, Mike Fryman (Becky Kochera) of Effingham, IL; grandchildren Cody Wakefield (Katherine Doty), John Alexander McCormick (sister Brittany Sipes); great-grandchild Remmington Workman, sister Zona Newton & Brother Robert Kissiar; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Shirley enjoyed working, farm life, nature, family and friends. Most of her life she spent preparing and serving others amazing food and drinks. She filled in as a short-term secretary for the mayor of Effingham and owned a pub called “The Buckero”. Shirley retired at the age of 80. Spending time with her family and friends was her most favorite pastime. She loved us all.

Celebration of Life will be held on 9/30/2023 at 3745 E. State HWY 33, Shumway, Illinois.
