
Shirley Schweigler
Shirley Jeanette Schweigler (née Hughey), a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and spirited traveler, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the age of 90. She died at Westview Assisted Living Home, bringing a rich and full life to a close.
Shirley was born on March 20, 1935, in the small town of Greenville, Missouri, to Walter E. and Gladys Hughey. She carried the warmth and community spirit of her hometown throughout her life.
She married her beloved husband, Richard Schweigler Sr., and together they built a life centered on love, family, and shared adventure. Shirley was known for her adventurous spirit and her dedication to exploring the world with Richard. She had a particular love for cruising, having enjoyed 21 cruises with her husband, and treasured the excitement of motorcoach excursions, including many trips to Tunica, MS.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Walter E. and Gladys Hughey; her beloved husband, Richard Schweigler Sr.; her dear granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Stearns; and her two sisters, Melba Jean Simpson and Virginia Cook.
She is survived by her loving children: Debra (Ron) Billingsley, Richard (Mary) Schweigler Jr., and Dana Schweigler; her cherished grandchildren: Jill Kreissl, Michael Schweigler, Anna Schweigler, Brandon Grotha, Molly Grotha, and Daniel Grotha; and her great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Kreissl. She will be profoundly missed by countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
