Stanley A. Poniewaz, Jr

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Stan passed away peacefully at home on July 29 at the age of 78. He was born in St. Louis on February 28, 1944. He was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Virginia (Rice) Poniewaz. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ellen (Duff) Poniewaz.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Michael (Patti Stefanszyn), Steven (Pam), Stanley Andrew (Erin), Kathryn Armstrong, Carey Poniewaz (Ian Blackburn); grandchildren: Kayla Adams, Indea Armstrong, Haley Vilmer, Aiden Armstrong, Sydney Poniewaz, Olivia Armstrong, Dylan Stanley Poniewaz, Oscar Poniewaz, and Deryn Elena Poniewaz; his sisters Margaret and Christine Poniewaz; and many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Stan served in the Army in Viet Nam 1966-1968. He was electrician employed by Mallinckrodt, Inc. for 37 years. He was an avid hockey fan since before the St. Louis Blues franchise. Stan enjoyed camping with family and friends, he enjoyed cruises, and he was proud to be able to golf with his children.

Stan will be buried at Jefferson Barracks cemetery. A Mass to celebrate his life will be Friday, August 12 at 11am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church

    Will always remember Stan’s great, warm smile and loving, happy way of living! The pictures shared here are wonderful examples of his love of life. I am so happy to have known him. I grieve his leaving Ellen and all of us who experienced his great heart!

    Even though I did not know or meet Stan
    he truly enjoyed a great life with his family and friends.
