Stebbins, Benjamin “Benjie”

Stebbins, Benjamin “Benjie”

June 7, 1956 – May 31, 2016

Benjamin Franklin Stebbins was born on June 7, 1956 in St. Louis, MO to Marilyn A. Stebbins. Known to all his friends as “Benjie”, he was a friend to all and strangers were only friends he hadn’t made yet. Benjie grew up in the Catholic faith, was an altar boy at St. Laborius Church on Hogan St. where he also attended grade school. Benjie attended Catholic school through most of his elementary school years, later attending public school and he is an alumnist of Central High School. Benjie lived in the same house on N. Florissant for over 50 years. He is survived by his spouse Shirley Cantrell-Jones, cousins, John (Rebecca) Davis, Tom (Sheila) Davis, Freddy Davis, Billy Davis, Jesse Davis, Lynn Dobbs, Nora Fields, and David (Kate) Dobbs as well as his Aunt and several cousins throughout the United States, and friends everywhere he went from childhood to his current adult life. Once you were Benjie’s friend, he loved you like family and always let you know it. We are all devastated at losing this gem in the Northside crown, but we can take comfort knowing God welcomed him into the kingdom and his mother and grandmother were there waiting for him. Rest in peace Big Ben.

Service at St Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave., Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. til 5:00 p.m.

I’m really sorry, Shirley, but I’m thinking of you and praying for you and the family.
