Stephen Geiger
May 22, 1952 – October 28, 2025
Teacher. Union Advocate. Strong believer in our Public Schools and the dedicated Teachers and Professional Support Staff who help make the magic happen…in spite of the nonsense and obstacles often thrown in their way.
Most importantly, deeply loved…
…Shelley (ever since that night she was on the flip side of a double date 55 years ago), Peter and Colleen (pretty, pretty, pretty wonderful son, and a beautiful, best-ever daughter-in-law), Franklin and Archie (fellow Doughnut Monsters, and full throttle, lovers-of-life grandsons), Mary, Ed, and David (truly unique sister and brothers), Debbie, Kathy, and Vera (a nice melange’ of sisters-in-law), quite a variety of cousins, nephews, and nieces, a generous crowd of good friends (and a special smile for his very close, almost-womb-to-tomb, hangin’ out in the barn friends, the home of some memorable moments and shenanigans), and of course, the one and only Uncle Gordon.
And a very special shout-out to Billie and Ed (mom and dad), who made his life possible.
When all is said and done, he liked to think, at least on his best days, he was a solid B+ person. But, hey, you be the judge.
Any gathering will be private. But should you have the notion, have a toast or roast (you choose!) with your next cocktail.
If of a generous mind, these good people deserve, and would appreciate, whatever contribution you can offer. Thank you.
Visitation: With family and open to the public, Saturday Dec 6th, 11:00am-12:30pm at New Hope Presbyterian Church 1580 Kisker Road St. Charles Mo 63304.

Shelley, I worked with Steve at Howell North. I was an art teacher there. I always admired Steve because he seemed like a real intellectual. And had a wicked sense of humor. Always loved talking with him. He left us too soon. But what great memories. Sad for your loss. And all the best to you and your family. Michael Leistner
I have so many good memories of Steve. Growing up friends with Pete, I got to spend a lot of time at the Geiger household. Steve made me feel like an honorary family member. Some of my favorite memories of Steve are pretty simple, checking in with him the living room when we’d come in from hanging out with friends, chatting with Steve about sports, school, politics, family, whatever, sitting in a recliner chair, talking with “the old man.”
Upon learning of his passing, my first and immediate thought was “Oh damn it!” A great loss. I was in the periphery of his friends and associates but I admired and respected him mightily.
The world is just a bit less joyful with his passing. And so it goes…
I met Steve when I was student teaching at Francis Howell North. He was the first person I had ever met who has the same last name as I do, without being related. He welcomed me. When I was first doing union work in the St. Charles school district, he helped me with research that ultimately helped us improve our parental leave policy. I feel lucky to have known him.
Shelley and Peter, we are so sorry. My brother Fred, wife Linda and I are saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. We have so many memories of a funny and mischievous kid and all the fun we had in those summer days down at “the camp”. Steve grew up into a caring person whose cheerful dedication to his profession made a real difference in many lives. I always appreciate the way Steve kept in touch with brother Fred over the years. I know he misses Steve dearly, as do we.
I’d say A+, Steve. You will be missed.
Steve was such a great person and will be missed! Growing up with Peter, Steve was always supportive of our various creative endeavors. He had great taste in music, which of course informed Pete’s, which then informed mine. A lot of my early knowledge of all things classic rock and folk from the 70’s and early 80’s comes from driving around with Peter in Steve’s old truck. Art was of course always present and a priority in the Geiger household and I was lucky to be around to soak some of that in. Even at that young age, Steve always showed genuine interest in me as a person, and I’m truly grateful to have known him. Sending love and peace to Peter and Shelley and the whole Geiger family.
