In Loving Memory of Steven Douglas Bain

November 07, 1958 – November 11, 2023

Steve, 65, was born to Lloyd D and Helen (nee Gerber). Husband to Eunice (nee Evers). Brother to Helen Weiss, Lloyd L. Bain, Therese Heidemann. Dear brother-in-law, Uncle,  great-uncle, great- great-uncle.  

Baptized into the Catholic Church on December 21, 1958. God parents Mary Ann  and Joe Lakots.Grew up around Arsenal and Lemp. Confirmed to the faith on April 16, 1967, at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church. Sponsor Joseph (Uncle Bud) Gerber. 

His family moved to Gravois and Loughborough above the Gerber Flower shop in 1970.  Steve attached St. Raphael school and Church.  During that time he learned to bowl at Red Bird Lanes, working with uncle Bud on Flower arrangements, wood working, riding bikes all over the southside and graduating from Bishop Dubourg High School in 1977.  During and after high school Steve’s enjoyment of music, cars, fishing and Hunting developed. 

Steve worked various jobs before coming to Paul’s Bait and Tackle in the spring of 1991.  Eunice could not stand him during the interview process but Marilyn still hired him. 

“Who knew God’s plans for both Steve and Eunice at that time?”

On December 1, 1994 Steve Bowled one of his best nights at Red Bird Lanes with a score of 290 229 300  819  The night was witnessed by his best longtime friend, Dan Dooley and his brother Lloyd. He came close to many Lanes over the years but never again to be reached. 

Steve joined the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod by confession of faith in the spring of 1997 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. That Christmas Steve asked Eunice to marry him. September 1998 Steve and Eunice were married at St. Johns Lutheran Church.

Steve was involved in many organizations during his life from Lions, Cub Scouts Pack 125, BSA Scout Troop 181, to Church groups including Trustee and Usher. 

Even though Steve lost his mobility and had limited eyesight, he was happy and content sitting on his sofa with his loving wife at his side.  She was there to assist him in any way she could.   While Steve was sitting or lying down he was a prayer warrior for many, including the 50+ foster children that received hugs and unconditional love from him. With particular attention to Jayvon and Cyan. Steve was godfather to Eli Panzer, Kirsten Sharp and Jayvon Evers.

Steve fell asleep in the Lord’s arms November 11, 2023. Survived by his wife Eunice of 25 years.Brother to Helen (Rob), Lloyd, Therese (Tim). Brother-in-law to Ruth Evers. Uncle to Karen Sharp, Julie Heidemann, Angela Peth (Brian), Jayvon and Cyan Evers. 

Great-uncle to Kirsten and Kendra Sharp. Great -Great uncle to Jasper Sharp and Samuel Peth. Dear friend to many. Even in death Steve cared for others by donating his body.
