Teddy Gene Ammons

Born on October 17, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas, Teddy lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to her family and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of everyday living. She raised her family in Northern Missouri, where she built a warm and loving home. After retiring, she moved to Delray Beach, Florida, embracing a new chapter before returning to Missouri in 2005.

Teddy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Max (Pat) Ammons, with whom she shared many cherished years. She was also preceded by her parents.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Mary Kay Beckman; her son Mark Alan Hayes and his wife Cindy; and her step-sons Terry Max Ammons, Harry Ammons and his wife Liz, and Jerry Ammons. Teddy’s legacy continues through her eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Tom Day and his wife Cindy, Jackie Martin and her husband Milton, and Dawn Joy Moore and her husband Lavon.

A woman of many passions, Teddy found joy in gardening and canning—skills that reflected both her nurturing spirit and practical wisdom. She was an active member of The Moose Lodge, where she enjoyed camaraderie and community involvement. Her love for animals was ever-present throughout her life, with Molly the cat holding a special place in her heart as her final companion.

Teddy’s warmth and resilience touched all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her and inspiration to those who carry forward the values she held dear.

A Celebration of Life will be hosted by her family at the Colony Cemetery in Colony MO sometime this summer.
