“It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to someone so special to my wife Katie and me. I first met Teri Rose back in 2016 when she opened one of her homes to us. From the start, she treated us with kindness and compassion. When I seriously injured my knee in 2020 during Covid and lost my job, she didn’t turn her back on us. She let us stay, even when we couldn’t pay rent. That act of generosity made a lasting impact. And to know she was such a sweet, cherished presence for my wife’s family for so long means so much as well. Thank you Teri, for your kindness, for opening your home and your heart. We’ll always remember you Rest peacefully. —Obie”

I don’t remember life without Teri in it. Even back in second grade Teri was taking care of others when our scary teacher informed the class that if she didn’t hear every one singing, that student would miss recess. Teri immediately put her hand up and said , “ Mrs Doobie Karen can’t sing very loud can I just sing extra loud for her?” She always ran up to me and let me tag her when I couldn’t catch anybody playing tag at recess. I miss you more than you know my dear friend

I was sad to hear about Teri. I knew her several years while working at NIMA/NGA. At the end, she was working as one my auditors in St. Louis. She was really dedicated to doing the right thing and was willing to speak up even when it was hard to hear. I appreciated that she was willing to get to the truth even if it was complicated and hard for management to accept. I was sad to see her go when she retired. I also know she loved helping dogs and last I heard, she was doing dog rescues. I had not been in contact with her for a long time and saw the announcement from the NGA Alumni Association. Condolences to Teri’s family.

I’m heartbroken. Teri was more than just a friend; she was family. We celebrated so many holidays and special occasions together. There was never a time she didn’t do something for me, Mike, or my granddaughter, and we always reciprocated. If she ever craved something specific or needed help preparing a dish, she’d call us.

Teri was truly one-of-a-kind, caring so deeply for her community and animals. She touched so many lives and will never be forgotten, especially by me. I’ll always remember her and keep her memory alive. All I can say is God got a good one. When he made Teri, he broke the mold. She fought a good fight, and now she can rest.

    I love you always,

    Neighbor / brother / friend

Teri was one of the first people I met when going to work at NIMA/NGA in 2000. She immediately helped me find community resources. Her Intelligence, honesty, energy, and helpfulness to people and animals will be missed, as will her smile. A former co-worker,

Oh Ms. Teri, where do I even start. It almost seems like yesterday we were talking about your dog Broadway Joe. You will forever hold a special place in my heart. You know my entire family and it hurts to know that a person who believed in me since I was a little boy won’t be able to meet the kids I want to bring into this world. I know to regret is a sin but I really do wish I took those piano lessons you were trying to teach me and Mariah a lot more seriously so I can continue the special legacy you left on St. Paul’s (College Hill) thank you for the cardinals games, long conversations, bible studies, plays at the fox and just being an overall amazing human being. I love you Ms. Teri. Mansa

Hi Felecia Goins Terri has always been family. Terri was a very strong woman with a kind and gentle heart that would help any in everybody that needs help Carmen and Eddie Gamble would always invite Carrie to the Super Bowl parties and the Christmas parties. She was so much fun to be around my mom. Katherine would always call her and talk to her to see how she was doing because Carmen her and Mom❤️ or Capricorns their birthdays were real close. Terri would come over to Mom❤️‘s house and sit with Mom❤️ and I would come in the kitchen and fix her and Mom❤️ a ham croissant sandwich that she loved I would call Terri to see how she was doing and Terri would call me to see how I’m doing, but she would always call me to let me know there’s a straight Animal loose and Terri would always get them and bring them home and find a home me and her with feed the cats and the dogs. She was so much fun to talk to Terri would come over to CORMAN‘s parties and I’ll say Terri you’re not walking home by yourself, she said it’s my neighborhood. I can handle it, but I end up still walking her home and talking and laughing. Terri would know if anything going in the neighborhood if you didn’t live in the neighborhood you gotta go it was strangers walking around Sheila let everybody know what’s up and that’s what I loved about Terri. She watched College Hill. She made sure everybody was safe and we loved her so dearly. Her spirit was so genuine. Her heart was so Kind and her spirit touched your heart and all you wanna do is give her a hug and tell her you love her I would always make chocolate chip pecan cookies with extra pecans oatmeal and Terri would come down and get her some and then I would take her a whole bunch to our house and let her know I was bringing It cause Terri love to eat and she loved good food. She loved my food. She loved my sisters food but most of all she’s gonna be dearly missed, but we’re gonna keep her alive and we’re gonna say her name all the time and know that she is still here with us cause she was family and we love her so much Terri. I know you on your journey and I know you’re with God and whatever you’re doing up there stop and let us know you’re OK and you’re at peace and we love you so very much.

    Teri,

Tomorrow, we will gather to say goodbye, but tonight my heart is filled with memories of you.

You were so much more than a neighbor. You were a dear friend, a familiar and comforting presence, and truly a part of our extended family. Over the years, the word “neighbor” simply became too small to describe what you meant to us.

I will especially treasure the commitment we shared to our College Hill neighborhood and our Neighborhood Association. Meeting after meeting, conversation after conversation, we showed up because we cared about this community and the people who call it home. We believed that positive change begins with neighbors who are willing to get involved, speak up, work together, and simply care. I will miss looking across the room and seeing you there, knowing we shared that same commitment to making College Hill a better place.

As I continue this work with the Neighborhood Association, I will carry a piece of you with me. Your years of service, dedication, and love for this neighborhood will remain part of its story—and part of the responsibility we now have to continue the work.

It is difficult to look across the way and know that you will no longer be there. Your presence was woven into the fabric of our lives and into the College Hill community you loved and served so faithfully.

I will miss our conversations, your familiar face, your kindness, and simply knowing you were nearby. But I am grateful for every year, every memory, every laugh, every neighborhood meeting, and every ordinary moment that I now realize was something very special.

Tomorrow we will honor your life, but your memory will live far beyond tomorrow—in your family, your church, our neighborhood, and in the hearts of those of us blessed to call you our friend.

Rest peacefully, Teri. You were loved, you mattered, and you will never be forgotten.

Until we meet again, my dear friend. ❤️
