The Reverend Kevin D. Selle
The Reverend Kevin D. Selle, age 49, died on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Evelyn’s House Hospice in Creve Coeur. From his birth in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 10, 1968, to his death on August 6 he inspired those around him with compassion, faith, and music. Kevin was the son of Kenneth Frederick and Lois Ann (Harrington) Selle and was the youngest of three children. Kevin showed a deep faith in God and a love of music and learning from a very young age. After graduating from Santa Fe High School in Alma, Missouri, he earned his bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Just after graduating from UMKC he married Jacquelin Deane and they moved to St. Joseph, Missouri. After a short time there, Kevin and his wife returned to the Kansas City area where they had their three children and he worked at North Kansas City Hospital as a laboratory supervisor. In 1999 the Selles relocated to the St. Louis area and Kevin worked for 14 years as a laboratory supervisor at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. While working at Barnes, Kevin completed an MBA in Health Care Management and accepted a position as laboratory manager at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Louis. Additionally, Kevin studied and completed courses at the Episcopal School for Ministry in St. Louis as he prepared for ordination as an Episcopal priest. Kevin returned to Barnes-Jewish Hospital as program manager of laboratory services in 2017 and was ordained to the transitional diaconate in the Episcopal Church in April of this year. Kevin is survived by his wife Jacquelin, his three children Nicholas, Caitlin, and Cristin, his sister Karen (Selle) Sprinkle of Webb City, his brother Kenneth (DuWayne) Selle of Appleton City, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. The Reverend Selle will be remembered for his compassion for others and unwavering faith in God, as well as his love of fishing.
Services: A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis’ Episcopal Church, 602 Rockwood Arbor Drive, Eureka, Missouri, with the Right Reverend Wayne Smith, Bishop of Missouri, officiating. The Reverend Dr. Warren Crews will give the homily. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church, and there will be a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in The Reverend Selle’s name to St. Francis’ Episcopal Church or the Humane Society of Missouri.

Dr. Hassan
There are no words adequate to express the loss that his death is to the world. A good, sincere, strong man with a beautiful voice. Condolences to Jackie, Cristin, Caitlin, and Nicholas.
Kevin was an inspiration to the bjc lab. Shortly after he assumed the position of histology supervisor he was determined to recruit more registered histology technicians. Since I had several years as s frozen section technician Kevin offered me an opportunity to study for registration. He formed a class of interested candidates and half of the class became registered HT. I was one of the lucky employees to complete his course and became s registered HT. I am honored to call him my mentor. He paved the way to my career. I will forever be grateful.
My condolences to Kevin’s wife, children, and his entire family. Kevin was a kind soul and one of the nicest people I have worked with. May his soul rest in peace.
