Thomas DiMaria

DiMaria, Thomas Charles “DiMo” born October 3, 1948 in Saint Louis, Missouri passed away March 3, 2021, after a hard fought battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Thomas, fondly known as “DiMo” was son of the late Charles and Olivia (Esposito). He is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Kruse), cherished father of Amy (Brian) Wright, Jeff (Sara) DiMaria, and Kelly DiMaria, and beloved grandfather of Ana, Olivia, Jack, Isabella, Landon, Maddie and Tommy. He is additionally survived by his sister, Rosalie (Emmett) Hines and his brother Charles (Florence) DiMaria, many brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

He attended St. Thomas More Catholic School, Mercy High School, Quincy College and earned a Master of Education from Washington University in Saint Louis.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of honor and commitment. He met the love of his life, Janet, at the age of fourteen. They dated throughout high school and college and were married on June 26, 1971. For the last 58 years, they shared a story-book love and unwavering devotion to each other.

Tom was a passionate athlete and coach. He loved all sports, especially soccer. He began playing in grade school and was a 3-sport athlete throughout high school. He was a standout goalie for Quincy College, leading his team to an NAIA championship, amongst other accolades that culminated in 2015 with an induction into the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame.

A parishioner of Saint Robert Bellarmine for 44 years, Tom was a devout Catholic who took great pride and comfort in his faith.

Tom was a leader in all career paths, most prominently in his passion for education. He will be remembered a teacher in life and death, as he chose to donate his brain to science, furthering Parkinson’s research.

DiMo was truly unique, one of a kind. He was always the life of the party and could make anyone laugh. He did not know a stranger and was proud to talk about his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. One of his favorite pastimes was cheering them on from the sidelines at their many sports games. Tom’s legacy will live on through everyone that loved him and the countless lives he touched. While he is gone, he will never be forgotten. Memories will be our comfort until we meet again. Rest In Peace DiMo.

Out of an abundance of caution a memorial mass will be held on June 5, 2021, 10 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Saint Charles, Missouri. A celebration of life will immediately follow at Webster Park, 2201 South River Road, St. Charles, MO 63301. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dr. Ushe’s Parkinson’s research at Washington University https://gifts.wustl.edu/med/index.html?0_d_tr1=71&sc=NG or Tom DiMaria Memorial, SLSG Living Legacy https://secure.qgiv.com/for/todimmem/

In St. Louis DiMo was a fierce opponent. At Quincy, a terrific teammate. In life a lot of fun and a great guy but a much better husband, father and grandfather. RIP keeper.

Tom I will miss you terribly. We always had a great time together even if it usually ended in a friendly argument. Neither one of us would back down. Jan would just shake her head at us and laugh. I will always remember the good times, playing cards, dominoes, going to the show or out to dinner. It’s nice to know I have another angel looking out for me. Take care my friend until we see each other again.
    Love, Mary

Sorry to just hear about Tom’s passing. I worked with Tom at Sports Authority. He was a very good man and one of the best managers I’ve worked with. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
