Thomas Joseph Race

Thomas Joseph Race, 73, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on January 1, 2025, after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on July 4, 1951, in St. Louis, Tom was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

Tom was a proud graduate of Webster Groves High School, where he excelled in multiple sports, with basketball being his standout passion. He went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla (now the Missouri University of Science and Technology), which paved the way for his career in engineering.

Tom began his professional journey as an intern at McDonnell Aircraft, and later transitioned into contracting work, specializing in computer automation. He worked with several esteemed companies, including Sverdrup, Eli Lilly, and Air Liquide, leaving a lasting impact in the field.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Robert and Mabel Race. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Race, his son, Justin Race (Brittany) and granddaughter, Jenna Race of Rossville, Georgia; his brothers, Robert Race, Richard Race (Lois), and Bill Race (Kimberly) also of Rossville,
Georgia; his sister in-laws, Laura Parli (Ron), Linda Shaw (Chris) of Denver, Colorado and Leslie Squires (Mark), along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom’s legacy will live on through his loved ones, who will deeply miss his wisdom and kindness.

A memorial service celebrating Tom’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at The Rock Church of St. Louis, 9125 Manchester Rd, St., Louis, MO, 63144 Visitation from 10:00am – 11:45am, Service to follow at 12:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Tom’s memory.
