Timothy Duncan
Tim left this world peacefully surrounded by family in his home on July 4th, 2015 after a short illness. He was the beloved son of Sylvia J. Duncan and the late Jack C. Duncan. Tim is survived by daughter Merritt E.L. Duncan, son Jacob B. Hilboldt, his close companion Donna Berner and was also loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends on both side of the Atlantic.
Tim was born in Braintree, Essex, England, lived in Amarillo, Texas and spent his childhood weekends at Bear Creek Farm after moving to St. Louis. He had just received his 30 year service pin for his employment with the United States Postal Service, and was an active member of the NALC Branch 343. He was an artist, photographer, musician and stamp collector who prized his orchids and tomatoes. Tim was admired for his boundless creativity, unfailing sense of dependability and quick wit. He will be deeply missed.
Many thanks to SSM Hospice Workers, who made his last months comfortable. Private memorial services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Humane Society of St. Louis.

Tim, we couldn’t get together enough but when we did we had fun and never failed to solve the world’s problems. We always looked forward to the next time we would meet. Philippa, Benjamin, George, Samuel and I will so miss you but we will always remember the great times (and beers) we had together and cherish those memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sylvia, Merritt and Jake at this difficult and sad time.
I will always remember Tim with real affection from when he and Sylvia were last on holiday in Braintree. Nothing was ever too much trouble. He was so thoughtful pushing his aunt Pat in her wheel chair around all afternoon while we all talked and enjoyed each other’s company. My thoughts and prayers are with Sylvia, Merritt, Jake and Donna. Love aunt Pam.
Sylvie and Merritt and all of your family, While I did not have the privilege of meeting Tim, it seemed I knew him from Sylvie’s beautiful descriptions of such a generous, caring, and warmhearted man. I can’t imagine how very much he will be missed. May the Lord comfort you now in this time of grief and encourage you as you remember his life. sending my love and prayers.

Just a few moments ago I learned of Tim’s death this past July. It leaves me heartbroken; he was one of my closest and best friends, despite how little we actually saw of each other over the past 15 years. Raising a family in another city will do that, I suppose.
You all have my deepest sympathy. Tim was a great human being, and my life was greatly enriched by our friendship. I will never forget him.
