Tommy “Butch” Goodwin
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommy “Butch” Goodwin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully on February 5th, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on January 28, 1949, Butch was a man whose presence was felt in every room he entered, and whose love for family, service, and craftmanship defined his life.
Butch was a true enthusiast of all thing’s cars, and spent much of his life surrounded by tools, and making things run just a little bit better. His passion for vehicles was matched only by his devotion to the many tools he collected throughout his life, always striving to have the right tool for the job. For Butch, it was never just about the work; it was about the pride in craftmanship, the joy in fixing, and the deep satisfaction of bringing something back to life.
His dedication extended beyond the garage. As a locksmith, Butch spent years honing his craft, earning the respect of his peers and becoming a trusted figure in his community. His attention to detail and patience had served him well both in his profession and in life.
Butch’s commitment to service was further evident in his time with the United States Army, where he proudly served his country. The values of discipline, loyalty, and duty instilled during his service shaped the foundation of who he was as a man and a father.
He is survived by his devoted wife Kay, with whom he shared 54 years of love, laughter and memories. He leaves behind his daughter Monique, his granddaughter Sarina, and his great-grandsons Brantlee and Nolan, his other daughter, Danyell and Nick, his brother Kim and wife Maggie, and close friend Donnie and other dear friends and extended family who were a constant source of joy and support. Butch’s family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in watching the next generation grow and thrive.
Butch’s legacy will live on through the many lives he touched with his generosity, his skill, and his steadfast love. He was a man who could always be counted on, whether it was to offer a listening ear, lend a helping hand, or share a laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who came to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local PVA Paralyzed Veterans Organization, honoring Butch’s service and love for his country.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Rest in peace, Butch. Your work here is done, but your memory will live on in the hearts of your loved ones forever.

You are a really good bud, Butchy babe. I do weary of everyone leaving. But you are in good company….First, Gene left us….then Andy left us… now you left us. But you know what? We’ve all been blessed to be part of the luckiest generation. ….music, cars, our America… Best looking women….yours still is… I love sharing what I call my Butch and Kay jokes. We aren’t hurrying things, but we will be hunting you in the next few years im guessing. We will all take care of your little Kay in the meantime. Miss you, brother.
Rest in peace, my friend. You were truly a good person. This was a wonderful slide show showing you in your environment.
Kay, sorry for your loss. Butch was a great friend. Take care of yourself and let Linda and I know if we can help.

Kay, my heart goes out to you and your family. You and Butch have been on my mind so much the last three weeks. I even called the key shop to see if it was still open. I got a message about the current hours and had every intention of stopping in to see how you all were doing. I know our paths didn’t cross often, yet when they did it was like we had just been together. I often use you and Butch as an excellent example of two people who were truly “soul mates”. I’ve only known two or three couples who could spend as much time together as you two and be as happy as you two. Your respect, love, humor and generosity not only towards each other but to everyone who had the privilege to be your friend. God speed Butch, the world lost one of the truly good guys, inside and out.
Dear Kay,
I am so sorry for your loss. Butch was always there for me during my work career as well as a friend then and afterward. I always looked forward to dropping in, while back i St. Louis to see you both . He will be missed.

Condolences Kay and Monique , sorry to hear this , great man , always will remember his fishing trips / stories with my dad ,
Butch was a great guy and a true friend. We shared so many good laughs together. Every time we saw him, he had a joke ready and I still find myself using some of his lines to this day. I’ll never forget the time we went to the car auction and when it was time to leave, Butch some how had more stuff in his trunk of his car then anyone else. The guy always had a plan. There was another day we had two metal panels that needed to be bent, a left side and a right. When we got home we had two left sides lol. You would’ve thought we’d been sneaking drinks in the back room with the way we were laughing. If you knew Butch, you knew he was first class all the way. This is a big loss and he will truly be missed.
Butch is a father figure to me. A great bear of a man with an even bigger heart. Butch and Kay treated me like family and I will always cherish the time I spent with them. Words are not enough to explain my deep respect that I have for Butch. And I will miss him terribly. My condolences to Kay and Monique and the rest of the family. Rest in peace my friend you will be mi
Butch was truly a good friend, the kind of guy who showed up when you needed him and made you laugh even on a tough day. He introduced me to things like E&J head lights and the California Kid and it’s been a favorite ever since. We were always stopping by the shop just to swap stories, talk about cars, projects and where we were going the next weekend and somehow those quick stops were never really quick. Every time I see my ‘38, I think of Butch and the fun and laughs we had together. He always had a plan and usually a few extra parts to go along with it. He’ll be missed more than he’d probably admit, but he won’t ever be forgotten.
Thinking of you Kay, let us know if you need anything at all.
