Victoria Ann Mathews

Nov. 14, 1949 – Nov. 21, 2020

Victoria was born on November 14, 1949, the second of five children born to Ralph A. and Dorothy E. Mathews

Victoria passed away peacefully after a 20-year courageous and optimistic journey battling metastasized cancer. Victoria (Vicki) graduated from Rosati Kain High School in 1968. She attended Fontbonne College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics. After college, Vicki served in the Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa. She was employed by the St. Louis Board of Education as an administrator of food service for 30 years.

After retirement, Vicki loved to travel with our mom, her friends and for family occasions in Kansas City. She loved Australia, England, Gulf Shores and the many road trips throughout the United States. Vicki was very smart, extremely generous and had a hilarious sense of humor which kept the family in stitches. She enjoyed cooking and reading. Doctors, nurses and end-of-life care givers described Vicki as an easy and pleasant patient throughout her difficult treatments and multiple surgeries. She left this earth on November 21, 2020. Before passing, Vicki joked that she lived long enough to see Joe Biden win the election and celebrate her 71st birthday.

Vicki is survived by her sisters, Pamela Mathews, Rebecca Mathews, (Tom Minges) Dory Mathews, (Ellen Dubinsky) and brother Randy Mathews (Rita). She was aunt to Meg, Pete and Charlie Mathews. She was a great sister and a dedicated friend.

Cremation. Private Burial at SS Peter + Paul cemetery.
