Gayle Jennison

VIRGINIA GAYLE CLARK JENNISON, 76, passed away quietly on September 27, 2018 at her home in O’Fallon, Missouri surrounded by her loving family.

Gayle was born July 29, 1942 in Macon, Georgia – the daughter of the late Thomas Dillard Clark and Imogene Collins Clark and was the sister of the late Thomas Dillard Clark, II. She was a southern woman to the core with a Gator Bowl Queen crown to prove it.

Gayle was an artist, golfer, dog lover, dancer, skier, volunteer, Phi Mu alum and cook. She was vibrant, joyous and generous to everyone she met. Gayle had many talents and interests but her most cherished was spending time with her family and creating loving, lasting memories and traditions that will live on through her daughters and granddaughters.

Surviving are her daughters, Christie Judd (Thom Judd) and Lisle Wescott (Sterling Wescott) and her five granddaughters: Emily, Abby, Caroline (Judd) and Jenna, Gracie (Wescott). Her family also includes her sister-in-law, Mary Clark and nieces Karen Trigg and Courtney Bolla. Ex-husband Nick Jennison and his wife Jane Dickel Jennison. Brother-in-law, Chris Jennison and his wife Nancy Jennison. Sister-in-law Annice Jennison and nephews Clark and Ned Jennison.

Gayle will be cremated and her ashes spread at a date still to be determined. A private Celebration of Life will be held November 24th from 4-6 PM at the Butterfly House in Chesterfield, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House or the Missouri Botanical Gardens.

Raised in the Episcopal church, Gayle had a lively faith which is a source of strength and solace to her family and friends. Gammy Gayle (GG) will be missed, never forgotten and always loved.

“To keep forever sacred the memory of those we have loved and lost” – Phi Mu Creed. I will miss Gayle and my talks with her. She was so loving and kind to me. I am sure she will enjoy greeting our Phi Mu Alumnae sister, Marcia Shorey, in heaven. They shared a love of nature, plants, and southern roots. We shared a love of antiques, southern manners, soccer (Sterling coached my son, Paul, years ago) and time with our alumnae sisters.
    Phi Mu Love Forever,
    Brenda Love Collins

Now her smile is pain free. She can light up the skies in the morning and create the magical light of dusk at night with it.

Gayle was my 4th grade teacher in Marin, and I remember her kindness and patience to this day. I learned so much in her classroom outside of schoolwork. I am sorry to hear she has passed, and send warmest wishes to her friends and family.
