Virginia Lee Fontinelle

Virginia Lee Fontinelle, 96, was born December 3, 1923 in Flat River, MO to Minnie and Harry Evens and passed away peacefully on November 10, 2020. She married Robert E. Fontinelle in 1943 and they were married 61 years. She enjoyed her career as a legal secretary.

Virginia was an avid genealogist, researching and collecting family information, stories and memorabilia, some dating back to the 1700s.

She and Robert spent their retired years travelling, watching Jeopardy together, working on puzzles, and doting on their cats. Virginia will be remembered for her masterful crossword and Scrabble-playing abilities, her love of reading, and her knitting and needlepoint work, which she gifted to her family members and charities.

She is survived by her children Lynne Dauve (Keven) and Robert Clayton Fontinelle (Karen); grandchildren Joel Dauve (Cate), Amy Fontinelle (Victor), Jennifer Wolff (Ben), Eric Fontinelle, and Steven Fontinelle; and great-grandchildren Stella, June, and Charlie; nieces and nephew Ann Royer (Dick), Hal Fontinelle (Jan), and Juline Fontinelle (Lain).

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings Maxine Ross (Cecil) and Howard Evens (Mary Ellen).

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Brookdale West County for making Virginia’s final months happy and comfortable.

    What a great picture of Virginia. I worked with her at a law firm downtown years ago and I looked forward to hearing from her in December since she retired. I also admired her. May she rest in peace and may God bless her family. Deepest sympathy from Ray and me.
