Bowell, Waltraut Hedwig (nee: Berger), 89, of University City, MO, died on October 24, 2022

Waltraut (Wally) was born in Frankfurt, Germany on July 8, 1933 and immigrated to the United States in late 1950s.  

Wally married Elwyn (Al) Bowell in 1960 in Loveland, Colorado, where they met on the ski slopes. 

The life-long athlete, Wally enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf, fencing, swimming, and table tennis.  She enjoyed traveling the world and living abroad with her husband and son.   

Wally also loved teaching tennis, French, and German studies, playing classical piano, and dogs, especially her “grand dog” Howard. 

She is survived by her son, Troy (Marsha) Bowell of St. Charles, MO. 

Wally was preceded in death by her husband, Elwyn Bowell.

In the spirit of knowledge, Wally donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine.  Donations may be given to the donor’s choice.
