Warren E. Schuessler Jr.

Warren Eugene Schuessler Jr. passed away on Tuesday, July 15, in Chesterfield, Missouri, surrounded by his wife and daughters.

Born on March 21, 1957, in Tokyo, Japan, to Warren Schuessler Sr. and Moto Honda Schuessler, Warren spent his early years living abroad in Japan and Morocco as the son of a U.S. Air Force pilot. His family later settled in Wichita, Kansas, where he graduated from Wichita East High School in 1975. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Wichita State University in 1982.

It was during this time, while teaching Bible study at Immanuel Baptist Church, that he met his future wife, Marvella. They were married in Wichita on November 12, 1983, beginning a lifelong partnership marked by love, faith, and shared purpose.

Warren began his career as an aeronautical engineer at Beech Aircraft and Gates Learjet before relocating to Fort Worth, Texas, to work for Bell Helicopter. His first daughter, Kelsey, was born in 1987, and the family soon moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he joined McDonnell Douglas (later Boeing), specializing in loads and dynamics for defense aircraft.

In 1991, Warren co-founded Advanced Concepts MFG, an engineering and development firm serving the truck, autotire, petroleum, and medical industries. A prolific innovator, he was awarded seven national and international patents for his work. During this time, he welcomed his second daughter, Nicole, into the world in 1992. In 2001, Advanced Concepts was named the 20th fastest-growing company by the St. Louis Business Journal.

Warren returned to the aerospace field in the early 2000s, joining The Boeing Company where he would spend the next two decades making significant contributions to military aircraft programs, including the EA-18G Growler and F/A-18 Super Hornet. In 2006, he earned his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, further expanding his expertise.

In 2025, Warren was named an Associate Technical Fellow—one of Boeing’s highest engineering honors, awarded to just 1.5% of the company’s workforce. As St. Louis Chief Airworthiness Engineer, he became a nationally recognized expert in military aircraft certification, with deep knowledge of U.S. Air Force and Navy programs, as well as NASA, DARPA, and international airworthiness standards. Over the course of his 45-year career, he remained passionate about technology, innovation, and precision.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Warren was a man of deep faith. He dedicated himself to lifelong Bible study, often leading Sunday school classes and small groups throughout his life. He cherished family vacations to Hilton Head Island, international travel, and cheering on his beloved Kansas Jayhawks. In recent years, he found his greatest joy in time spent with his granddaughters, Sloane and Josie, and in the company of dear friends who enriched his life.

Warren was preceded in death by his mother, Moto Honda Schuessler.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marvella Schuessler; daughters Kelsey Schuessler and Nicole (Gabriel) Geer; granddaughters Sloane Nichols and Josephine Geer; sisters Mary (Rick) Woydziak and Nancy Schuessler; nieces Christina Woydziak, Amy (Larry) Naab, and Jessica (Chad) Weldon; and his beloved Doberman, Louie.

A memorial service for Warren will be held on Saturday, July 26th, at The Crossing Church at 114 N Eatherton Rd in Chesterfield, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am followed by a service at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Crossing Church in Chesterfield or the Kessler Scholars Program at WashU.

Marvella it is with deep sympathy our family wants to express to you and the rest of the family. I was caught by totally surprise of Warren’s passing. Wow, what a legacy he is leaving behind , what accomplishments, numerous recognitions, and what love for the Lord and his family. What a joy to have gotten to know him while attending IBC in Wichita and call him my friend. We had some good times together. Words aren’t enough to express our sorrow. I look forward to the day when I can catch-up with Warren in heaven on some of the amazing things he accomplished here on earth. Love to the family. Ron & Karen Nichols

Marvella, my heart is so sad for you and the girls. Although decades ago, I remember when you and Warren met and times we met at church and elsewhere.
What a joy to read through the detailed tribute to his dedicated work. It’s no surprise that he excelled in his career. And his love for Jesus and God’s Word is also a treasure to read. Finally, and again no surprise, but I know he cherished you and your daughters and grandchildren.
I will be praying for you as you walk this journey.
    Much love,
    Debbie

What a great guy he was! He had so many talents, honors, and titles, but his greatest was “a child of God”! We appreciated his Bible teaching and his servant attitude, a humble man! We rejoice that we will be with him in glory, but sorry for Marvella and family during this difficult separation before then. Prayers and hugs!
Because He lives, we can face tomorrow,
    Everett and Terrie (Shadrach) Barker
