William “Bill” Yates

William. Bill. Billybob. PeeWee. Camel. Yates. Dutch. Guillermo. Pop. Powpow. Dad.

Husband. Father. Sibling. Father-in-law. Grandpa. Soldier. Veteran. Glutton. Hunter. Lover of mints.

Exited this stage, Saturday June 29th 2024, escorted by Jim Morrison. Break on Through.

Survived by wife, Sue; children; grandchildren; siblings; extended Yates family; Schilligo family; friends; and Brotherhood of Gluttons.

Said by those who loved him: the most truthful, honest, and simplest man you could ever know. A great man, who held his passions deeply and shared them with those closest to him. He was loved by all and was never ashamed to give that love back in return. He was proud of his service to his country in the Vietnam War. He was proud of his family, and where he came from.

A compassionate man who, in your moments of uncertainty, could provide a measure of wisdom in times of need. Those lucky enough to get to know him were privy to all of this, and more. To know Bill Yates was to know yourself. To know Bill Yates was also to know an inordinate amount of information on subjects you never intended to learn about. His knowledge was encyclopedic and was often recalled.

He shared his memories, his stories, his songs, and his laugh with all who would listen. He will be missed.

A celebration of life for Bill will be held July 11th from 2:00pm—8:00pm at the Landhaus in New Melee Lake Park, at 300 Foristell Rd, Wentzville MO 63385. Flyer image here.
