William Christopher “Chris” Chunn
William Christopher Chunn, known by Chris to all of his family and friends, passed away at the age of 71 on September 23, 2018.
He was born in St. Louis to John and Patricia Chunn, and remained a lifelong resident. Chris was called home to be with his Lord after bravely battling cancer for over a year.
Chris was a selfless man, as demonstrated through his service in the Army Infantry where he served a tour of duty in Korea during the Vietnam War. Once he finished his commitment, he came back home to St. Louis, where he met and married Connie Louise Shepack. They enjoyed 46 years together. They were blessed with three strong, beautiful daughters. After the Army, Chris worked in the industrial sector of St. Louis until his retirement. He picked up serving again as a volunteer at the VA hospital until he finally retired.
Chris was an avid fisherman; in retirement his love of fishing blossomed and he leaves behind his second family at the St. Charles Bass Masters. Chris had a passion for quietly helping others. Chris will also be celebrated as a wonderful husband, beloved father and father-in-law, endearing brother, and was truly loved by all who crossed his path. He always had a way of making each person he met feel like they were the most important person he knew, and laughter was sure to be enjoyed by all. He will be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of his company.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and his sister, Cheryl Thebeau. He is survived by his wife Connie, his daughters Carrie, Amy Wichmann (Matt), and Sarah Chunn-Gaines (Kevin), his grandchildren Harper and Christopher, and his sisters Claudia Chunn, Julie Poteet (Ron), and Terri Regelski (Robert), and many other beloved family and friends.
The funeral service will be held on October 4, 2018, at 11:30 AM in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis MO 63125.
