William “Bill” Fischer

November 24th, 1946 – February 1st, 2025

William “Bill” Fischer of Saint Louis, MO, passed away on February 1, 2025, in hospice at age 78, after a longtime illness. Bill was born on November 24, 1946, in Quincy, IL. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in Quincy in 1965. Bill honorably served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and 8 months, including two tours in Vietnam, which contributed to his illness. During his military service, he earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Materials Management from Park University.

Bill’s enduring legacy is painted in the vibrant tapestry of his family. His beloved wife, Angela da Silva of St. Louis, MO, stood by his side through the latter part of his life.

His children include Angie (Bob) Wellman of Quincy, Erin (Steve) Wheeldon of Holiday, FL, Holly (Jim Belasky) Marinacci of Ocoee, FL, Brian (Emily) Fischer of Mooreseville, NC, and Matt Fischer of Apple Valley, MN, whose journey through life was guided by Bill’s wisdom. His supportative stepson, Charles Tyler (Wilma) of Birmingham, AL.

Bill’s familial roots extend further through his sisters, Peggy (Jim) Grant of Quincy and Kim (Sam) Rinella of Bonita Springs, FL, whose shared childhood memories formed an unbreakable bond. Additionally, Bill shared a close camaraderie with his brothers-in-law Todd Vincent (Susan) of North Pole, Alaska with a love of Alaska, and Ted Vincent of Alton, IL. A friendship that was a source of many laughs for them both.

He had numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. Despite their large number, he knew each one of them by name. Family gatherings provided him with immense comfort and joy. He reveled in hearing about the newest additions to the family, but illness kept him away from spending time with them.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, William “Bill” and Betty (Slater) Fischer; his brother, John Fischer, and sister-in-law, Carol Fischer; as well as his son, Eric Shawn Fischer. The recent loss of his eldest son, Eric, to illness caused him great sorrow.

The family invites all who knew Bill to join them in celebrating his life on Monday, February 10th, 2025, at 9:30am.

The Stupp Center (inside Tower Grove Park) enter off of Grand Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to AMVETS or a veteran’s service organization of your choice, honoring Bill’s enduring dedication to his fellow servicemen and women.
