(June 5, 1947 – 12/27/2024)
Beloved and devoted, husband, father, uncle, godfather and friend to many, Bill joined his Father in Heaven on December 27, 2024. He passed peacefully with his family by his side at Evelyn’s Hospice House in St. Louis, MO.
Bill was born in Springfield, IL and married his high school sweetheart, Linda Kay Secker. They had three children, Carrie Linn, Chad Michael (b. April 17, 1974 d. April 27, 1974) and Michael William. He was a proud grandfather to his only granddaughter, Olivia Katherine Dornhoefer. He truly cherished his family and loved having everyone together. He had an infectious sense of humor, lit up any room and effortlessly became the life of any party. He was an avid outdoorsman, and lived to be outside, especially in the woods, hunting and riding his 4-wheeler. Steadfast in his faith, he was an example to many of what it means to be a true Christian.
Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served as an electrician and radioman from 1966 to 1970. He received an honorable discharge with the following commendations/medals; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea 1969). A Memorial Service with Military Honors we be held on April 17, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Evelyn’s Hospice House (affiliated with BJC West, St. Louis, MO) and The Fisher House Foundation.

Kusturin family, Having known Bill for over 70 years, we were Northend classmates at St. Al’s and Griffin High School. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to have a closer relationship these last several years, almost like a brother. He provided a good life for his family. He was a tough fighter in recent years, suffering from Agent Orange. I did the best I could, visiting after most of my VA appointments. Chris & I and Bill & Linda even celebrated 1 of his birthdays together at The Veterans House where we stayed when we had appointments at the Indianapolis VA Hospital over there. I think he enjoyed my visits, but I think he enjoyed the Wendy’s Frosty’s more! May God Bless Bill. May he R.I.P.
