William Michael Bauer

In loving memory of William Michael Bauer (74), a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Mike was born in St. Louis, MO, on November 9, 1950, and passed away on December 14, 2024, surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Eva Bauer (nee Orick) and his older brother, Johnny, who passed away as an infant. He is survived by his daughters, Amy Rees (Jeremy) and Melissa Bauer (Mike Kagy); grandchildren, Michael and Kinsley; sisters, Sandra Russell (Brian) and Patti Simpson (Bruce); and many nieces and nephews.

During his childhood, Mike enjoyed watching westerns, riding his bike around South St. Louis, swimming at Marquette Park, and eating ice cream at Dairy Queen. He served in the United States Army after enlisting at the young age of 18. Most of his adult life he had a career in the HVAC trade. Car racing, playing poker, golfing, watching sports, and listening to music were some of his favorite pastimes. He adored his children and grandchildren. The latter part of his life, he enjoyed living at Lake Timberline in Bonne Terre, MO, where he had close friends and served on the LTPOA Board.

Mike was a homebody and family man who loved kids, especially teasing and aggravating them.
Like all of us, he had his moments; never the less, he was a great guy! He was a tough, strong-willed German who fought hard to the very end. He was loved by many, and those who knew him would agree he was one of a kind.

Mike kept things simple and realistic. At his request, there will be no services held. The family will celebrate his life privately. Those wishing to honor Mike may simply share fond memories and quit smoking.

Mike, my brother Gary and I were on the same bowling team back in the day. Like Cecil commented there are many stories that could be told. One story I will never forget is when Mike and I went to a Blues hockey game during a blizzard. Great times!
Mike was a good man, the last time I saw him was when we were all leaving my brother’s burial he was sitting in the grass he didn’t want to leave his good friend.
    God Bless you Mike.
