William Raymond Conroy, Sr

William Raymond “Bill” Conroy Sr., 89, Washington, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, peacefully here in Washington. Bill was born May 10, 1935. He had an extraordinary life, always making his faith in Jesus Christ, his family, and the giving of time and treasure to service and charity top priorities. He was a devoted husband, cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was beloved by all who knew him.

William and his wife, Joanne, were married for 69 years and would have been celebrating their 70th anniversary in November. They were extremely involved with St. Francis Borgia Food Pantry since moving to the Washington area nearly 20 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran, college graduate from SIUE Psychology, Lions Club member, 40+ year employee of Ameren UE, Borgia HS volunteer and community service work sponsor.

He is survived by his wife Mary Joanne Conroy (Hade); their children, William “Bill” Raymond Conroy Jr. and spouse Vicky, Mary Joanne Quinn (Conroy) and spouse James Quinn, John Arthur Conroy and spouse Tammy (deceased), Patrick Anthony Conroy and spouse Susie; 12grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; as well as many other relatives and friends all residing here in Washington and surrounding areas.

A celebration of life Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m Saturday, June 15, at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington.
