William Schnarr
Dr. William “Bill” Schnarr, age 80, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026.
Bill was born on November 17, 1945, in Saint Louis, MO, to the late Wilbur “Bill” and Lorraine Schnarr. He and his siblings were raised in the Kirkwood area. As a teenager, Bill worked for his father’s business, Schnarr’s Grocery Store on Clayton Road, which later transitioned into Schnarr’s Hardware.
He graduated from CBC High School before moving to Minnesota to attend Saint Mary’s College for his undergraduate degree. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Bill went on to become a highly accomplished physician, holding board certifications in three distinct areas of medicine: Internal Medicine, Critical Care, and Pulmonary Medicine.
In 1971, Bill married the love of his life, Barbara. Following their marriage, they moved to Texas for his residency. Over the years, they lived in San Antonio, TX, Springfield, MO, and Temple, TX, before ultimately settling in St. Charles, MO, where Bill established his private medical practice in 1982. He dedicated his life to the service of others, deeply cherishing his time working with SSM Health and forming lifelong friendships with colleagues and patients alike.
In 1999, Bill pursued a passion outside of medicine and started his own vineyard in Gerald, MO. In his retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed his leisurely days on the porch at the farm, tending to his grapes, driving his tractor, and waving at passersby. Above all, he loved having his wife by his side and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
Bill was a loving husband, father, brother, and son. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Schnarr; his three children, Amy (Mark) Delaney, Stephanie (Dan) Moran, and David (Elise) Schnarr; his seven cherished grandchildren, Sophie Delaney, Sylas Delaney, Nicholas Moran, Matylda Schnarr, Molly Moran, Charlotte Schnarr, and Caroline Schnarr; and his three siblings, Jerry (Barbara) Schnarr, Cathy (Steve) Ross, and Lesa (Chris) Hoffmeister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Lorraine Schnarr.

I will always cherish my memories of cousin Bill. He was kind, caring and a true gentleman. He was a great comfort to us when our mother, his Aunt Bernice, was diagnosed with ALS, but his legacy shines brightest in the fine family he and Barbara raised.
